The NYC Engagement Session of Bindu and Rajiv
November 9, 2022

Cross-state weddings are very familiar grounds for me. I have always traveled across the US and beyond its borders to cover destination and other out-of-state weddings, but what was unique about this year for me was traveling to cover engagement photo shoots. Some of my Dallas wedding couples happen to have backgrounds or deep emotional connections to locations outside Texas and wanted to have their engagement sessions in those places that carry a lot of meaning for them. To capture their couple’s shoots, I found myself hopping to destinations like Red Rock-Colorado, Nashville, Chicago and New York City.

Bindu and Rajiv who are getting married in Dallas this weekend, understandably had their heart set on a New York City engagement session since this is where they have met, spent their romantic journey and currently live. It’s no secret that New York City happens to be one of my all-time favorite cities. So with or without a photo mission, I can always find myself an excuse to visit, and an NYC engagement shoot is no exception.

As in every engagement photography session, I got to know the bride and groom-to-be a little more closely. We chatted away as they posed, hugged, goofed around and got to feel comfortable being intimate in my presence. I got to learn how they met, we talked about their life in New York and I found out that Rajiv who is a pilot has managed to put his skill to good use to keep the couple’s romance alive by doing regular weekend getaways to places like Martha’s Stewart Vineyards and other romantic couple’s destinations.

With no shortage of cool, urban, romantic and simply historic backdrops to an engagement photo shoot, the couple and I had a lot to work with and managed to capture some timeless images in places like the Summit NYC, Central Park and Brooklyn's Dumbo just to name a few.

Bindu and Rajiv are tying the knot this weekend in Bindu’s parents’ Keller ranch. If our New York session is any indicator, I expect a fun and emotion filled wedding day and I can’t wait to capture it all.
