Answering Some Wedding Photography FAQs

What is your wedding photography style? My photography style can be summed up in more than one way. Whether you call it Storytelling, Photojournalistic, Intimate or Fine Art wedding photography, at its core my style leans towards the Dramatic.  This the word that best defines my brand especially in contrast with the very prevalent wedding photography style labeled as light and airy. As popular as the light and airy wedding photography style is, I lean more towards the art of painting with light. The dramatic effect of contrast in light and color, between the dark and the bright which allows the important elements in a picture to capture the eye in unique ways stand in stark contrast to the blandness of the light and airy. I find that couples that are drawn to my style, come with a clear taste for the dramatic flair and the deep emotional impact of my photography style.

How do your wedding photography clients find you? Mostly through client referrals. Although I would never discount the power of advertising, social media, vendor networks and web optimization – and I personally do invest in all of these avenues – but combined, all these sources do not bring in nearly as much new business as client referrals do. I like to think that this organic growth is a testament to the success of my business philosophy that leans heavily on personalized customer service, relationship building, attention to what’s important to my clients and a policy of zero compromise on the quality of products and photography services that I deliver to them.

Why do couples love working with you? Reputation and trust. Testimonials from couples I’ve worked with say it all. Over the years, I’ve been blessed with many discerning and appreciative brides and grooms who were happy enough to express their pleasure with my work in those reviews in ways that exceed anything I can describe myself. Feedback often points out to trust in my work, feeling at ease in my presence in the most personal moments of their wedding day, flexibility, product quality, quick turnaround and so on. However, the common factor of all these testimonials is a humbling fascination with the elegant storytelling quality of final wedding images.

Where have you been featured? There have been many features over the years that are hard to pin down. They range from top-wedding-photographers listings, vendor websites and blogs to local magazines like Patron and D Magazine to name a few. Other renowned photography and/or wedding sites that I’ve been featured on include Vogue, Junebug, The knot, Maharani Weddings and WeddingWire.

What kind of weddings do you cover? May experience spans many wedding styles – elopements, traditional one-day weddings, destination weddings, a wide range of ethnic weddings, like Indian or South Asian weddings, Coptic Orthodox and other Middle Eastern weddings. I’m especially experienced in wedding that are rich in rituals and ceremonies. I know my way around these culture-rich and detail-filled events not to miss capturing any important moment that is meaningful to the bride and groom and their families.

What does your typical wedding photography package offer? On top of event photography coverage, the most popular wedding photography packages I offer include engagement or bridal photography sessions. With every package, I provide an online gallery of web-sized and high resolution images along with personal use rights, and as add-on, I also offer second photographers and luxury wedding albums.

The pictures: for any wedding photography package you choose, the final selection of photos you receive is abundant; all digital images are delivered to you in high resolution; they are individually color-corrected, sharpened and cropped to the highest quality; they are consistent in mood and style; and they are all yours to print and share. Most importantly there are no hidden fees or fine print.

The turnaround: not only are you anxious to see your wedding pictures, I am anxious to show them to you too! I have never missed to deliver at least a sneak peak of the wedding photos within a few days of the ceremony. As for the final images, I won’t make you wait too long. My delivery window is among the shortest in the industry.

The album: I offer top quality wedding art books. To most of the couples I’ve worked with, the wedding album is the cherry on top of the cake. It is the single most valuable souvenir you can keep from your wedding day. The wedding books I offer are of a premium quality of material, layout and design. They’re modern, elegant and make the perfect coffee table book to keep your wedding memories stylishly within reach.

What tips do you have for couples setting a photography budget? Even if I put my natural bias for professional photography aside, I would still strongly believe, that photography is one aspect of your wedding where, if you have the option, it may not be wise to skimp. As a bride and groom, you spend months, energy, and a lot of money to plan a wedding day that fits your vision of the perfect setting to tie the knot. The wedding, as wonderful as it is, will fly by in a day, but what remains is the memory in your hearts and the pictures in your wedding album. Your hobbyist friend’s camera and a photography software may guarantee you a set of pictures of your wedding, but if you’re seeking to capture the experience, the emotion and the complete artfully documented story that you’ll want to keep coming back to, you need the eye of an experienced, unique, highly qualified creative wedding photographer.
